In the last three years, Panest has ventured in farming. This was necessitated by a number of reasons;
- The cost of providing food for our pupils and trainees has always been a major issue on the finances of our member bodies. School and clubs also struggle to buy sufficient and quality food items for beneficiaries. As such, the need to seek cheaper sources has been paramount.
- A number of pieces of land earmarked for future expansion projects were lying unused with people occasionally encroaching on them. There was the need not only to protect the lands but also utilise them.
Since then, Panest Farms has been producing food including maize, yam and vegetables at a cheaper cost to supplement the food supply in the network schools and clubs.
It must be stated here that labour on these farms is provided by able adults hired on commercial basis and no minors, including our beneficiaries, are engaged to work on them.
