The Panest Network thrive on the internal revenue gathered, contributions from our trustees, voluntary services and donations – with no governmental support – and there are various ways you can support us.Therefore the high fees default rates have always left the institutions in serious financial limitations.
It must however be mentioned here that this good cause is greatly limited by the need to collect fees in order to pay staff, utility bills, taxes and rates and provide urgent facilities as well. As such, we manage to support only a small fraction of the needy children whiles the bulk of them are left with no other option than to drop out of school pre-maturely.
In this part of the world, thousands of children live in desperate need of the very things they should be able to take for granted – food, safe drinking water, medicine, education and recreation.
Without these basics, they are denied the chance they need to ever realise their potential. According to official statistics, about 1 in 5 children die before they even reach their fifth birthday. Those who survive can go hungry and have no chance of ever learning to read and write.
What would you do without education or skill?
As pertains in most African communities, it is of great difficulty, if not total inability for many people to pay for the education of themselves or their children. This issue is very high in our area of coverage.

The main occupation in the Brong Ahafo and surrounding regions in Ghana, is farming generally small scale, manual, and/or subsistence in nature. There are no capital support, mechanisation nor irrigation systems. In addition, the already low maximum productivity is frequently affected by drought or low rainfall, rainstorms, bush fires, disease and pest epidemics, poor roads and unfavourable market prices, just to mention a few.
To say the least, most of the above have direct impact on the high number of children who do not receive the basic needs of their lives including education and skill training. Pupil dropout rate is also very alarming because the conditions lead to the parents or guardians being unable to afford to provide the needs.
The latter is still quite high at PANEST supported schools where fees are subsidised and, bursaries and scholarships extended to the needy.
Other contributory factors to fee payment defaults include parent’s sickness or death, indebtedness, other members of the family requiring financial support and various commitments or urgent financial needs befalling the family.
Solving the problems
In view of the above, PANEST has put these schemes in place to address the above problems in order to achieve the set goals and objectives:
Projects in education and skill training
Bursaries and Scholarship fund
Support for schools and clubs
